| dc.description.abstract | India has only 4% of the world's water resources despite being home to around 17% of the world's population. It is of the utmost importance to properly manage the wastewater produced in Indian cities, given the increasing rate of urbanization and population growth in these areas. The Indian government has launched several programs intending to lower the amount of polluted water that enters rivers as part of its efforts to manage wastewater better. Nonetheless, managing sewage sludge remains the primary challenge. Before the sludge can be disposed of, it must first be processed, which requires a certain amount of energy. The sludge's primary component is made up of a significant quantity of organic matter, which has the potential to be converted into valuable goods such as bio-oil or utilized in the production of hydrogen and methane that can be further used for electricity generation. The presented study has concentrated on determining the many pathways to generate these products. A model has been designed for the process of handling sewage sludge by using ASPEN PLUS software and attempted to investigate the generation of green energy from the sludge. According to the study's findings, it is possible to produce 779kWh from anaerobic digestion, 636kWh from gasification, and 190kWh from pyrolysis, but the value varies with the sludge composition. | en_US |
