Abstract: Architectural visualization is a key driver that can help to make the decision-making process easier and more effective. Since many stakeholders involved in the process might not be able to understand and imagine the final outcome through traditional technical drawings. The use of Augmented reality for the visualization gives an edge over other existing methods like orthographic drawings, rendered images, virtual reality, etc. as it enables the user to experience the product to a live scale in a real setting. Also, in many cases such as renovation and heritage conservation the visualization is important to provide an alternate version of the existing condition. The registration of the model in a space is a key component driving the AR experience of the user. This dissertation focuses on this very aspect of the AR, i.e., to determine the positioning of the AR device through the visual features. The localisation of the device by using the visual features present in the known environment.
