The method for synthesizing α-diazoketones using sulfonyl azide is described in this dissertation. Diazoketones have been investigated for almost a century, and the numerous new advancements published so far show that there is still a lot of intriguing chemistry to be discovered in these compounds. The fact that they have such a wide range of applications in medical and photometry was a major factor in their selection of this project. The most appealing application that motivated us to synthesize α-diazoketones was the cycloaddition reaction of ketene (produced in the thermal or photochemical reaction of α-diazoketones) with alkenes/alkynes.en_US
