Over the years, transition metal binary arsenides have drawn significant interest due to their high stability and magnetic/electrical properties which makes them a desirable candidate in the application of electrocatalytic activity, themoelectrics, water splitting etc. However, till now, there is no report available for the transition metal ternary arsenides. Here, we report first wet chemical synthesis of transition metal ternary arsenides (CoNiAs and FeNiAs) via chemical reduction method and explore the system in terms of magnetic properties and electrocatalytic activity for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The prepared samples were studied by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope and superconducting quantum interference device. Furthermore, electrochemical measurements indicate a small overpotential of 336 mV and 404 mV was required to get a current density of 20 mA/cm2 for FeNiAs and CoNiAs respectively. To enhance the electrocatalytic activity towards OER, we further need to optimise particle size.en_US
