Abstract: In this study, the electrode material, was synthesised via sulphur doping into graphene oxide (GO) using S doping agent meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) which acted both dopant and reducing agent. It produced porous Sulphur-doped reduced graphene oxide (S-rGO) was confirmed by XRD, Raman, UV-visible, FE-SEM, TEM, TGA, XPS, and IR spectroscopic techniques. The percentage doping of Sulphur is found to be approximately at 10 atomic% as was arrived FE-SEM, TEM, and XPS analysis. The S-rGO based electrode afforded selective electrochemical detection of Hg(II) ion in a wide linear concentration range of 1 μM-200 μM with a lowest detection limit 1 μM. The value of Cs, Ed and Pd in asymmetrical three electrode system at current density of 1 A g-1 were found to be 118 F g-1, 110 W h kg-1 and 2588 W kg-1 respectively.
