| Abstract: | Ciprofloxacin (CIP) a widely used antibiotic, is easy to enter the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem through soil erosion, livestock manure and wastewater discharge, leading to a series of threats. The application of Z-scheme photocatalysts with improved interface charge separation and transfer has been regarded as an effective strategy for antibiotic degradation. Herein, a novel Z-scheme SnS/BiVO4 photocatalyst was successfully synthesized via. hydrothermal route. The photodegradation of ciprofloxacin using SnS/BiVO4 reveals degradation efficiency of more than 90% at 75 minutes of visible light exposure. The high efficiency of photocatalyst is attributed to the small band gap of the BiVO4 photocatalyst as well as the addition of H2O2 which spiked the photocatalytic efficiency by releasing the additional reactive oxygen species. |
