| dc.description.abstract | In the present study, for the first time, transition metal stannides has been explored as adsorbent for the adsorptive removal of hazardous dyes. Samples were synthesised using modified polyol approach. The synthesized samples were analysed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and zeta potential. Two purely synthesized samples NiSn and Cu3Sn were used for the adsorptive removal of dyes. Adsorption studies were performed in batch mode and solution concentrations were calculated from absorbance value of corresponding λmax measured from UV-Visible spectrophotometer. The effect of pH, contact time and initial dye concentration were conducted using one-factor-at-a-time method. The kinetic and isotherm modelling results suggests better fitting in pseudo-second-order model as compare to pseudo-first-order model in both the cases and follow Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm model for NiSn and Cu3Sn respectively. This study confirms transition metal stannides as efficient adsorbent for dye removal and open the possibility for other intermetallics as potential adsorbents. | en_US |
