Cubic ZnTiO3 and Ni0.3Zn0.7TiO3 were synthesized by solid state metathesis using Li2TiO3 as starting material. Solid state metathesis involves exchange of atomic/ionic species between reactants. Driving force for solid state metathesis is the formation of high lattice energy by product. PXRD data indicated that compounds synthesized were in cubic phase. UV-DRS data indicated the shifting of absorption edge from UV region to visible region of solar spectrum upon nickel substitution. Band gap for ZnTiO3 and Ni0.3Zn0.7TiO3 were found to be 2.61 eV and 3.05 eV respectively. Photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B under sunlight was found to be higher for Ni0.3Zn0.7TiO3.en_US
