| Abstract: | In this study, the anthracene-based Schiff base chemosensor was synthesized and characterized by different spectroscopic techniques such as IR, 1H NMR. The metal sensing action of the chemosensor was determined in the presence of various metal ion solutions with the help of fluorescence spectroscopy (Ba2+, Cd2+, Co2+, Fe3+, Hg2+, K+, Mg2+, Mn2+, Na+, Ni2+, Zn2+). There was a significant decrease in fluorescence intensity of the sensor with the addition of Fe3+ ion and the limit of detection was found to be 1.69µM. The result shows that the following compound could be used as the fluorescence chemosensor with high sensitivity and selectivity that was mainly responsive to Fe3+ ion. |
