| dc.description.abstract | Contamination of water by synthetic dyes is prevalent in developing countries, where industrial wastewater is discharged into rivers. Bioremediation using dye-decolorizing peroxidases (DyPs) is a promising solution to this problem. The dye-decolorizing peroxidases (DyPs) belong to the peroxidase family that has heme as a cofactor which has significant application in the detoxification of synthetic dyes such as Malachite green, Methyl violet, Reactive Black5, and Azure B, etc. and biodegradation of phenolic lignin compounds. DyPs have been discovered in a wide range of bacteria and fungi. Identification and characterization of bacterial DyPs are important in the field of white biotechnology since they offer more advantages over fungal enzymes in terms of production yields and relative ease of engineering for improved properties. DyPs from bacterial species such as Streptomyces, Bacillus sp,Thermobifidasphave been mostly characterized. Comamonas testosteroni KF-1 is a gram-negative soil bacterium that was isolated from activated sludge at a municipal sewage plant.
