Abstract: The upper, Middle and the Lower Gangetic plains together contain many distinctive tectonic features. Middle Ganga plain is limited by Rapti River to Kosi River. The middle Ganga Plain, located in northern India, is known for its extensive river systems, including the Ganga River, one of India’s most significant rivers. River meandering patterns are affected by several factors, including tectonic activity, sedimentation, and climate change. Meandering rivers in the middle Ganga plain have been shown to have a close relationship with tectonic activity in the region. The curvature of meandering rivers can be used to estimate the rate and direction of tectonic deformation, which can provide insights into the neotectonic activity of the region. Further studies have been conducted to understand the impact of neotectonic activity on river meandering patterns in the middle Ganga plain. Researchers have used remote sensing data to identify neotectonic features, such as fault scarps, and to analyze the relationship between tectonic activity and river meandering. In conclusion, the study of neotectonics and river meandering patterns in the middle Ganga plain is an important field of research that can provide insights into the tectonic activity of the region. The curvature of meandering rivers can be used as a proxy for estimating the rate and direction of tectonic deformation, and further studies can help to understand the relationship between neotectonic activity and river systems in the region.
