Abstract: The present work reports one pot synthesis of P-doped graphene oxide (P-rGO) using phytic acid as P-dopant as well as reductant of GO. It produced porous sheet of P-rGO as probed by performing FESEM and TEM analysis. The formation of P-rGO was characterized by XRD, Raman, UV-visible, FESEM, TEM, TGA, XPS and IR. The percentage doping (atomic %) of phosphorus in P-rGO has been found to be approximately 0.6 % from EDAX analysis by performing SEM, TEM and also by XPS. The use of P-rGO as electrode material in tree electrode system exhibited its working potential window in 1 M Na2SO4 to be 2.6 V (-1.35 to 1.25 V). It exhibited specific capacitance (Cs) of 236 F g-1 at a current density of 1.5 A g-1. This electrode material could also be employed for the sensing of dopamine and uric acid in the concentration range of 0.1 µM to 100 µM and 0.1 µM to 55 µM with the lowest detection limit of 0.1 µM each respectively.
