These days farming insects are emerging as the source of proteins and lipids. The research mainly focuses on the food application of the insects but there are many other applications of extracted proteins and lipids that have non-food potential too. We performed experiments on black soldier fly (Hermitia illucens) larva to isolate the proteins present in the insect larva. We used ammonium sulphate precipitation method to precipitate the protein in the solution. Ammonium sulphate precipitation is used because it is an industrially viable method. We precipitated protein at different concentrations of ammonium sulphate and analyzed the protein on SDS PAGE.en_US
