dc.description.abstractEmployment of batch and sequential fermentation enables enhancement of specific optimization parameters, coupled with separate fermentation of hexose and pentose gives insights for higher product yield. The employment of second-generation accounts for economic viability coupled with addressing the food shortage. This report discusses the thought of getting the ethanol from non-edible feedstock to provide a rationale for the ‘food vs fuel’ debate. The first chapter discusses the batch and sequential studies performed using the synthetic sugars and the second chapter discusses the pretreatment and biomass characterization to highlight their relative compositions.en_US
