In this thesis, the main achievements, both theoretical and experimental, in the investigation of twisted electrons are reviewed. In the starting, a pedagogical introduction is provided. In particular, the fundamen tal concepts of angular momentum, phase singularity, and vortex beam, as applied to electron waves, are introduced. Also, the fundamental study of several strategies for creating twisted electrons are discussed. In the next part, this dissertation primarily investigates and describes the non relativistic elastic scattering of Gaussian–wave packets on the potential fields in different situations. The obtained formulae are then applied to the twisted wave packet. The next crucial theoretical problem discussed is the study of elastic scattering of vortex electrons on a single atom and their configurations. This theory shows that the number of scattering–events in the vortex electron scattering of is equivalent to that in the ordinary plane-wave domain.en_US
