Abstract: In the present work, a simple co-precipitation technique was used to synthesize α-Fe2O3 (hematite) nanoparticles. The crystallinity of as-synthesized α-Fe2O3 nano-powders were investigated via X ray diffraction (XRD) technique. A wet chemical method was used to make the reduced graphene oxide/α-Fe2O3 (rGO/α-Fe2O3) hybrid nanocomposites. The prepared nanohybrid was used for making gas sensor. At room temperature, the NO2 sensing properties of rGO/α-Fe2O3 nanocomposites were measured. The rGO/α-Fe2O3 nanocomposites sensor showed a greater response for NO2 gas comparing to pure rGO. The synergistic effect between graphene and α Fe2O3 nanoparticles is responsible for the improved sensing features in as-synthesized sensor.
