| Abstract: | Shell model is the fundamental tool to describe the nuclear energy levels,binding energies, quadruple moment etc. of a nuclei. The nuclear charge radii is quite an important bulk prop erty of any nuclei while investigating nuclear structure. There are many new phenomenon that has been emerged from the investigation of neutron-rich nuclei like changing or vanish ing of magic number. The study of charge radii along an isotopic chain plays an important role in understanding the shell evolution in neutron-rich nuclei near the drip-line and also the halo and skin formation. The calcium chain is quite puzzling and unique because of evidence of doubly magic features in 40,48Ca are known. Many properties of calcium nuclei which is described by nuclear theory has been successfully proven experimentally but it is still a hard challenge to get any known description about the evolution of charge radii. The massive and unexplained rise in the size of neutron-rich calcium isotopes above N=28 calls into question 52Ca’s double magic and raises new interesting questions about the evolution of nuclear sizes away from equilibrium, which are crucial to our knowledge of neutron-rich atomic nuclei. |
