| Abstract: | Understanding the forest fire is necessary for risk management, The assessment of burnt area under forest cover enables for spatial understanding for burned or affected area to create meaning full risk resilience policy, planning ,estimating the environmental loss i.e flora and fauna, rehabilitation measures and creating restoration activities and danger rating systems for the future. The study of burned area assessment in this biodiversity rich area can be helpful in disaster risk assessment and planning of future mitigation and prevent the harmful impacts on ecology and environment. Various factors such as soil erosion, deforestation, productivity and regeneration play vital role in fire vulnerable areas. Data available on sampling protocols are less in number, limiting the assessment of regional and national level. Gaps lie in the prevention measures and detection of fire. We need to have a well-equipped system for real-time monitoring and mitigation of forest fires. Forest fire management can be done better by carrying out research and studies in this area by the Scientists, Researchers, and forest departments, MoEF&CC. The issue with most of these studies is locally based, and they do not justify the national or regional needs, so the need for national-level is utmost necessary for monitoring, burnt area assessment, damage assessment, and planning. |
