Abstract: In most commercial processes, such as pharmaceuticals, food, particle segregation is a key activity. By using open-source software program LIGGGHTS, we conducted DEM simulations and investigated the separation of granular particles inside a vibrating packed bed. By inserting the script file into the LIGGGHTS, we created the rectangular chamber for simulation and placed the two kinds of spherical particles with various radii into it. We have some simulation results for segregation of sphere-sphere particle combinations, and it has been shown that during vibration the average velocity is a key parameter in particle segregation. Also with the help of results of probability density curve for both fine and large particles , conclusions were made to prove and support my work .
