Title: FIBER OPTIC DUAL SELF-REFERENCED SPR SENSOR WITH SANDWICHED ZTO LAYER: TAILORING SELF-REFERENCE AND SENSING RESPONSES FOR IMPROVED PERFORMANCE

Abstract: In the past few decades of advancements in the field of fiber optics, it has now been majorly used to make sensors. The major reason behind this is the long hall communication which allows the user to sense and get the data even while sitting far away from the actual site of work (remote sensing). In this work, a theoretically designed refractive index sensor using surface plasmon resonance is performed. The partial fabrication and characterization of the sensor is demonstrated experimentally. To understand the working range of the sensor, investigation of the structure was performed theoretically on MATLAB. Partial fabrication of the sensor by depositing ITO, Silver, and ZTO thin films over glass slides in the beginning was performed. It has yet to be coated on the core of optical fiber. Theoretically, it is based on ZTO-ITO-Ag coated on a SiO2 fiber core structure and investigated by spectral interrogation for refractive index sensing. We found that this sensor works in the range of visible spectrum that is 350nm-700nm wavelength with Dual referencing, and an increased FOM is observed in comparison to only ITO based fiber optic sensors.
