| Abstract: | A study is undertaken to utilize textile waste in paper industry. Firstly, to find out type of textile waste on the basis of raw material as well as on the basis of material processing. Then to find out which textile waste is best suited for paper purpose. Cotton stalks and cotton fibers are taken here. In textile waste, Waste cotton fiber is used here. Paper sheet is prepared from the blend of cotton fibers and cotton stalks and then it is tested for various properties. The decrease in availability of raw materials for pulp and paper production has led papermakers to search new raw material resources. Some treatment is also given to cotton fibers to improve their property. Like mercerization of cotton fibers are done to increase their tensile property se well as to increase water absorption capacity. Pulping of cotton stalks are done using kraft process then it is bleached with DED method. The paper which is prepared from blend of cotton stalks and cotton fibers are best suited for tissue purpose and water colour drawing, napkin, toilet paper. Because cotton fibers have good absorption property and high wet strength, that is needed for tissue purpose. |
