| Abstract: | In an intelligent packaging system, Temperature-sensitive coating solutions were synthesised by using Disilvertetraiodomercurate (DTM) and Cellulose Acetate (CA) and incorporated with 50%, 60%, 70%, and 80% (w/w) Disilvertetraiodomercurate (DTM) and Cellulose acetate (CA) for the first time. The microstructure and physical properties of prepared films were characterized and examined. The addition of DTM to CA shows the thermochromism of the prepared coating solution. The colour of the prepared thermochromic coating solution changed as the temperature of the coating solution coated subject was raised. Further, increasing the amount of DTM slightly affected the colour of the coated papers. The thermal properties of films were enhanced with the addition of CA. The dispersion of DTM in the CA matrix was affected by an increase in DTM concentration in the CA matrix. Remarkably, CA DTM thermochromic organic solvent-based coating solution successfully shows the thermochromism on paper after coating solution. Our results suggest that CA DTM thermochromic coating solution coated on a paper sheet containing DTM at various concentrations can be utilized as a novel intelligent packaging temperature indicator in the food processing industry. |
