Nitrogen diffusion on the surface causes the evolution of self-equilibrating residual stresses which are calculated by the sin2Ѱ method. In case of nitriding two conditions are being acting first the residual stresses, second the composition effect and sin2Ѱ method ignores the second effect which causes the non-linearity. In this study, the composition effect is explained and model is created to counter and accurately calculate the residual stresses. Different X-ray elastic constant are considered to get better approach and study the anisotropic behavior of grains to get the explicit isotropic properties from the single crystal. Established linear relationship of nitrogen content and orientation factor for Ni5wt%Ti alloy is used to get the relationship between strain-free d-spacing and orientation factor.en_US
