Abstract: This paper investigated university students’ willingness to use various sustainable transport modes, considering individual and specific trip features and psychological aspects. The study looks into the aspects that affect university students' mode choice. Numerous factors determine people's inclination for one mode of public transportation over another. Making sustainable transportation choices is a fundamental task to achieve sustainable university for the academic community. Several factors influence students' preference for one mode of public transportation over another. The study involved 200 student commuters who happened to be present at the institutes during the survey at three renowned institutes in Roorkee. While deciding on which mode of transportation to use, the students weighed in on fare, security, convenience, and trustworthiness as per the survey. This report summarizes the results of various measurements and comprehensive analysis of secondary data of students from various universities. Analysis of survey results revealed apparent differences among students regarding travel patterns and factors that influence their choices. Vehicle availability, trip origin location, and accessibility all play a role in how people choose to travel. The selections also depend on transport users' requirements, such as trip quality and costs. As a result, the impact of colleges on the transportation system is determined by their behaviour. Analyzing the activity can help in deciding whether and how it can be changed. According to the study, before choosing which mode of transportation to use, the students weighed in on fare, safety, comfort, and reliability. Students preferred government-owned public transportation over other privately-owned modals because they have lower fares and are considered as comfortable, safe, and reliable.
