Abstract: Solar photovoltaic arrays convert solar energy directly into electricity without polluting the environment. The water pumping system attached with a DC motor is one of the most common PV array applications. This dissertation aims to design and build an incremental conductance MPPT algorithm for a PV array that will extract the greatest amount of available solar power for running a motor and storage purpose in the battery as the solar irradiance changes throughout the day. Boost converter’s duty cycle is modified inside the programme utilising incremental conductance (IC) MPPT. As a result, no extra control loop is required. Simulations performed in MATLAB Simulink uses a solar panel, boost converter, battery, MPPT block, MOSFET, PI controller for controlling speed of dc motor using controlling voltage of armature. The motor is varied at a fixed speed of 100- 1500 RPM. It has been observed that by increasing or reducing the voltage of the armature of the motor, the PI controller adjusts the speed of the motor at the set speed. A battery attached with bidirectional buck-boost converter is connected in parallel to boost converter for charging (storing) and discharging (supplying power) purpose. When irradiance of sun is high then it charges the battery as bidirectional converter acts as buck converter and also power is given to motor from which speed control of dc motor is happening according to our set speed. When irradiance is low (ex. At night) then power is taken from battery for running the motor and bidirectional converter acts as boost converter and speed is controlled with help of PI controller.
