dc.description.abstractMicrowave processing is emerging as a new processing technique which is applicable to materials ranging from MMC, FRP, alloys, powders, ceramics. The processes such as joining, sintering, coating, drilling and casting have gained importance in recent decades. Microwave processing improves the cast properties while utilising less energy than conventional casting. It also reduces the environmental pollution when compared to conventional casting. Present work focuses on getting tailored microstructure for a particular application, by controlling cooling rate during solidification. In the present work, AA7075 was simulated using COMSOL 5.5 software package with two different setups, their temperature profile was simulated and the resulting microstructure in both setups was discussed.en_US
