| Abstract: | OFDMis an efficient multi-carrier modulation scheme (MCM), which is omnipresent in today and future communication technologies. However, OFDM has its advantages and disadvantages. OFDM being MCM, its waveform is the superposition of a large number of sinusoids which leads to a high dynamic range of the signal. The metric for this dynamic range is peak to average power ratio (PAPR). Therefore an OFDM signal is characterized by a high peak to average power ratio. A high PAPR is the major problem as it leads the power amplifier present in the transmitter into the non-linear region and thereby introducing distortion at the transmission side itself. Due to the increasing thirst for a high data rate, it demands more sub-carriers. With an increase in subcarriers, this problem becomes highly significant and certain techniques must be employed to mitigate this issue. |
