The study presented in this di ertation has been under taken to 'know the extent of epplieehblity of ' beam on elastic foundation $ analogy method for the analysi a of centi4* lever type nonpxiemattc box girder bridges uMer various i.R.C. loadings. A typical cantilever type box girder bridge with en arrangement itable for a two lent high, 'bridge, has been analysed for various I.R.C. to :n+ , pieced in such a fashion so as to give the most sever, distortional effects, by B.E.Q. analogy method and finite element method using the available computer progras. Conetdering the finite element method to give exact results, a oomparative study has been made between the results obtained by B.E.J. analogy method and finite elanent method so as to find the accuracy of results obtained by B. &.P. analogy method. Total longitudinal stresses end transverse bending moments hav, been considered a the p alters to be comparedd for the comparative study presented here• The longitudinal tresee aid transverse bending moment$ as obtained by the above two methods be" been plotted along the span for erne T.R.X. loading$ considered. The magnitude of absolute maximum longitudinal stresses and transverse moments obtained by two methods have also ten compered to find the degree of reliability of design provided by H.E.P. analog method of analysis. LAP. as1ogy dethod, although simple to apply, dose not gyre the sceursoy of results with Is the aeoeptable limits in case of oasts* lever t nonpriguatia box girder bridg ►r.en_US
