| Abstract: | The problem of global warming is increasing day by day, posing a significant threat to the existence of life on earth. The leading causes of global warming are the conventional sources of energy used for electricity generation and the transportation sector, based on the ICE, which uses fossil fuels for its powering. In this study, we are going to take into consideration the alternative of both the problems discussed above. First of all, there will be a discussion on the DC microgrid, which is based on renewable energy sources for its power generation. A detailed discussion will be carried out regarding its operating modes, control strategy, and system modelling. Next, the project will be focused on the design and development of an electric vehicle charging station, which is one of the crucial components of the electric vehicle infrastructure. Electric vehicles, which are the wheels of the future, need a lot of charging station for their fast and efficient charging. The charging station developed in work is again powered by renewable sources; therefore, it can contribute to managing the problem of global warming. The project discusses all the components of the EVCS along with the modern charging techniques and topologies. Finally, the integration of the charging points is done with the DC microgrid and the impact analysis is done. The primary concerns which are created when a large number of the electric vehicle starts charging at the station are studied, and to deal with the problems and for mitigating the impacts of the electric vehicle charging, a controller is designed which is based on the grid parameters and SOC of the EV for its operation. |
