| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this project is to Improve the Power Quality using BESS. System taken is a hybrid one consisting of Diesel Generator connected with Wind Turbine Generator and an isolated microgrid having PV, synchronous machine. System is isolated and loads are connected at the same bus as generators as well at two distant bus. Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is designed and connected at the same bus as generators. BESS consists of lithium ion battery, Power Conversion system and filters to make it suitable for integration with any AC network. Both PQ decoupled control strategy and V-f control strategy are applied separately to control the power fed by BESS to the system Disturbance in the form of sudden load change, wind speed variation, fault is introduced to the system and various parameters are analysed like frequency, system voltage, power to see the improvement when BESS is introduced over the situation when there is no BESS. Waveforms show a great improvement in the parameters. Eigen value analysis was done for the converter and filter configuration to show the stability of the system used. The investigation was done in Simulink/MATLAB. | en_US |
