| Abstract: | In this thesis, an approach has been made to design a ultrawide band beamforming antenna operating in millimeter wave (mm wave) regime. The antenna has been designed keeping in mind the applications of mm waves in the field of 5G and tactical communication for defence sector. This antenna design has been achieved by integrating three radiating patches together by using two resonators of λg/4 and λg/6 length along with Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) technology. The designed antenna resonates at 35 GHz frequency. The beamforming and beamsteering has been achieved by using switching combination of two PIN diodes operating at 35 GHz ie., ‘ON-OFF’, ‘OFF-ON’ and ‘ON-ON’. All the respective measured reflection coefficients are found to be less than -10 dB. The overall radiation efficiency over the required band is above 90 % and gain obtained are 4.6, 4.0 and 4.75 dBi, respectively. All the simulations have been performed on ANSYS HFSS package and Advanced Design System (ADS). Along with them OrCAD Pspice and OriginPro softwares have also been utilized for proper depiction of the results. The simulated results have been examined and were found to be in agreement with the desired ones. |
