| Abstract: | Transportation became crucial part in each individual and national wide. Now a days number of private vehicles are increasing as compared available transportation infrastructure facilities in this nation. Due to this in balance between private vehicle increasing and transportation infrastructure, there is so much of traffic congestion ,travel delay ,air and noise pollution, increase of fuel consumption ,traffic crashes and other medical issues were observed. To overcome this problems, authorities are trying different strategies. Providing parking facilities near MRTS station is one of that strategy .In this park and ride mode commuters use their private vehicle upto nearest metro parking area ,there he parked his vehicle and rest of the journey he uses public transport in the congested part of the journey. So that private vehicle usage is reduced in the congested part of the journey. In this study, the criteria which are affecting the implementation of parking facilities in the particular corridor out of so many corridors is studied with the help of Analytic Hierarchy Process .Later prediction of mode shift towards metro based park and ride after providing the parking facilities near MRTS stations with the help of Artificial Neural Network. A successful park and ride will help the reduction of congestion by private vehicles in the city centre. |
