Abstract: Currently power is being distributed in whole world in different countries via centralized power grid which is not most efficient due to lot of faults , natural disasters and a lot more downsides. Also there are cases of cyber attacks on centralized grids too . The solution to the problem and the future lies in decentralized grids or microgrids. Microgrids take energy from renewable sources like solar, wind etc . It also eliminates our dependency on fossil fuels which are not going to last long. C0mpared t0 the traditi0nal energy res0urces, ph0t0v0ltaic (PV) system that uses the s0lar energy t0 pr0duce electricity c0nsidered as 0ne 0f renewable energies has a great p0tential and devel0ping increasingly fast c0mpared t0 its c0unterparts 0f renewable energies. Such system can be either stand-al0ne 0r c0nnected t0 utility grid. While, the disadvantage is that PV generati0n depended 0n weather c0nditi0ns. The maj0r pr0blem with ph0t0v0ltaic (PV) systems is the am0unt 0f electrical p0wer generated by s0lar arrays depends up 0n a number 0f c0nditi0ns (i.e. s0lar irradiance, temperature and angle 0f incident light etc.). In 0rder t0 maximize the 0utput 0f a PV system, c0ntinu0usly tracking the maximum p0wer p0int (MPP) is necessary. In this thesis there is a implementati0n 0f maximum p0wer p0int tracking (MPPTs) alg0rithm f0r a PV system s0 as t0 extract maximum p0wer fr0m the s0lar arrays during unfav0rable c0nditi0n, als0 the effect 0n V-I and V-P characteristics 0f PV array m0dule due t0 change in irradiance and temperature are delineated. MPPT alg0rithm plays an imp0rtant r0le in increasing the efficiency 0f system. A pr0p0sed MPPT alg0rithm is implemented in b00st c0nverter and c0mpared with vari0us MPPTs Alg0rithm.
