Abstract: A large quantity of waste products namely Fly-ash, Steel slag and copper slag are produced in large amount across the world from various industries. Steel slag is a waste product obtained from the steel industry. It is obtained as a residue during steel production. But, this Steel slag has been declared as a construction material and not as the waste product by many countries the reason is their overall positive features and high disposal cost as a waste material. Successively, it is recycled as an aggregate for the construction of roads, soil stabilization, base and for the surfacing of flexible pavement. In this study, the focus is on the evaluation of the steel slag as aggregate for road construction. To find the index and engineering properties of Crushed slag sand and it’s comparison with the normal/river sand sample. Physical and numerical investigation on applicability of this crushed slag sand as backfill material in earth embankment for road projects (ROB) for different slopes. And investigations on applicability crushed slag sand as base course material on low volume roads.
