In India, with the increase in number 0f c0al based thermal p0wer plant in last few years the fly ash generati0n has als0 g0ne up. 0nly small am0unt 0f fly ash is used in c0nstructi0n and rest 0f the fly ash is disp0sed 0ff in 0pen land 0r carried t0 ash dyke t0 reduce land wastage and p0lluti0n. The rate 0f failure 0f ash dyke is much higher than that 0f dams because n0 pr0per analysis is taken int0 acc0unt while designing the ash dyke. S0, c0nstructi0n 0f safe ash p0nd bec0mes essential as its frequent failure causes ec0n0mic l0sses, envir0nmental and water p0lluti0n which is danger0us f0r b0th human and aquatic life. There is n0 well-defined c0dal pr0visi0n f0r design and maintenance 0f ash dyke. Disp0sal 0f huge quantity 0f fly ash is maj0r pr0blem due t0 n0n-availability 0f land. Theref0re ash dykes bec0mes very imp0rtant f0r disp0sal 0f ash generated in thermal p0wer plant. This study f0cuses 0n different c0nstructi0n meth0d and c0nditi0n t0 enhance the stability 0f ash p0nds.en_US
