| Abstract: | Floods are the natural hazard event; they cause the misfortunes and harms to lives, properties and the nature. The main aim of this thesis is to ensemble the science of hydrology, meteorology, and hydraulics to propose an appropriate and effective method to manage the event of flood hazard. 1-D Hydrodynamic model of HEC-RAS is utilized to assess geomorphic viability of floods on lower Tapi River basin, SURAT. In this current study, calculation of lower Tapi River, flood plain of Surat City and past noticed flood information have been utilized to foster 1-D hydraulic model of the lower Tapi River, Surat India. After collecting the entire data using 1-D hydraulic model to simulate the flood of year 1968, 1998, 2006, 2012 and 2013. As Surat city has faced many floods since long back. Major flood event occurred in the year 1883, 1884, 1942, 1944, 1945, 1949, 1959, 1968, 1978, 1979, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2012 and 2013. The conveying limit of waterway is roughly about 4.5 lakhs cusecs (12753 cumecs) as of now. The waterway organization and cross areas for the current investigation were extricated from the field reviewed form guide of the stream Tapi River. In this, solidness of a portion of lower reach of Tapi stream roughly 1 km length between Weir cum interstate and Sardar Bridge is assessed for its conveying limit and geomorphic adequacy. The investigation arrive at comprises of 11 cross-segments. The model is utilized to assess consistent stream examination, flood transport execution and uniform stream investigation. The examination region chose is profoundly influenced by the flood and it is important to foster flood decrease plan for the investigation region which will assists to controlling a major hazard in future. The proposals are done dependent on this investigation either to increase the height of embankment or built an embankment at specific segments along study reach. The current examination likewise suggests improving conveying limit of Tapi river basin with the goal that it will limit the flood in encompassing space of Surat City. |
