The dissertation is an attempt' towards understanding better the arch dam behaviour for actual site condition. In the crown cantilever method of arch dam analysis, different values foundation elasticity have been taken and the values of crown cantilever d-formations and stresses have been evaluated. The study covers, in the first phase of study, the actual dam sites symbolising thick arch gravity dam, moderately thick arch dam and their thin arch dam.. In the phase two of the study the effect of foundation elasticity and canyon shape factor on the deformations and the stresses in a constant radius and variable radius arch dams have been studied. The, studies done on a digital electronic Computer, IBm 1620 have been charted in different figures which would serve as -seful design guide for arch' dam builders and designers in days to be.en_US
