| dc.description.abstract | There is a substantial rise of in the number vehicles on the roads. People dwell at one place but for work, education and tourism purpose travel to different places. Haridwar is the city in India which has the holy river Ganga flowing through it. It has many temples, and ashrams, and is considered as a spiritual place. Millions of people visit every year to carry out the rituals and follow traditions. Badrinath is one of the holiest pilgrimages of the ‘Char Dham’ yatra of Hindu devotees. Tracking of the vehicles is required as the road passes through the Himalayan ranges, and always has the possibility of accidents and landslides. There is a revolution in the sensors and electronic technologies which collects attributes parameters, provides data storage and analysis which gives rise to an affirmation action whenever threshold values are being crossed. Here, the proposed framework encompasses technologies of Internet of Things (IoT), Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). It gives precise tracking of the vehicles and location-based services for optimal path of tourist planning as well as emergency services. The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is quite feasible, and is interfaced to the application that stores data in MySQL database. The checkpoint keeps a track of the passing by vehicles when the RFID tag is scanned, the vehicle and drive details are stored in the database with the time-stamp. The details of vehicles will keep a proper track of the vehicles passing through the region. It will be beneficial to count the number of vehicles, and also identify types of vehicles going through the highway. The proposed system will be very beneficial for the commuters traveling to Haridwar with the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). It will ensure that the vehicles ply safely and reach the final destination. Accidents can happen through any way, may be driver’s mistake or through natural calamities. Here with IoT, sensors, like accelerometer, ultrasonic sensors detect for any accident possibility and its location through GPS. A Wi-fi module acts as the communication medium for transferring the data to the Thingspeak cloud, while the real-time location is sent in the form of message for emergency help with the coordinates on the smartphones. The GSM/GPRS module is used for transmitting the real-time location on the mobile phone. The coordinates are visualised on the smartphone with Google maps. The data is vital which triggers an action from the monitoring station. It immediately helps rushing the ambulance to the accident spot urgently. The integrated approach has another advantage that detects an accident with the vehicle, and provides the emergency services at that accident spot for saving human life. Travelling from a source to destination is always time-consuming but with the advent of remote sensing and GIS, it has turned out to be quite advantageous to the commutators. Location-based services give various aspects of geospatial data. This includes dynamic maps during navigation, finding optimum path, network analysis, etc. The tourists should have thorough information of the tourist places and the available routes for the journey. With shortest path, like Dijkstra’s algorithm, the optimal path is determined for the tourists who are planning a day tour to Haridwar city. Selecting the optimum path saves time and fuel for the particular vehicle. The proposed methodology focuses on route planning for the holy city, Haridwar and its further journey. The cost attribute is considered in terms of time and distance that determines the optimum path between the tourist places. By integrating all these, the proposed framework not only optimizes the tourist experience in Haridwar but also ensures the safety and preparedness of tourists, offering them a comprehensive and enjoyable visit while addressing any potential emergency scenarios. The service area analysis indicates that the tourist places are well-covered by the police station and fire station, ensuring the safety and prompt response to emergent help within a shorter time frame. | en_US |
