| Abstract: | Due to technological advancement in the last 50 years, long-range HF communications can now cover large geographical areas using lightweight, portable and cost-effective equipment. HF has played a vital role in long distance transmission between any two sites. With the advent of Line of Sight -V/UHF communication and optical fiber the dependence on HF has reduced. But it still plays an important role as standby/Fallback mechanism in case of failure in communication systems in use. Indian adversaries are equipped with HF transmitters which they use for long distance communication and detection/tracking of targets using Over the Horizon Radar. Knowledge about the location of these transmitters will play a better role in planning. |
