Abstract: Due toincreasingconsumersidedemandofelectricalenergy,therehasbeenin- creaseintheuseofdistributedgenerationunitstoprovideuninterruptedpowerto consumer bytheirplacementneartoloadside.However,withfunctionalitieslike flexible topologies,plugandplaywheneverrequired,theseActivenetworksalso bring theproblemofprotectionastheconventionalschemesarenotapplicableto them. Thereitisnecessarytodesignafaultdetectionanddirectionestimation scheme forthesesystemwhichcarefullydetecttheproblemandspecifictothese Active Distributionnetworks.TheimplementationofFPGAbaseddevicecan make itmorerobust,adaptiveandmorereliableduringabnormalconditions.In this work,toreducethecost,aprincipleforthedirectionalrelayusingonlycurrent measurements,whichisbasedonthephasechangePositivesequencecomponents.
