This dissertation report presents a sensorless control of EV motor drives. Electric Motors, those are used with the Electric Vehicles must have high efficiency for maximum utilization of the energy from the batteries or fuel cells. Also to be popular, these motors must be compact, lightweight, less expensive and may be recycled very easily. Further to get better dynamic performance various vector control strategies are discussed to control the speed of the motor. Furthermore, to have increased reliability, it is better if the speed sensor is used with, so this aspect calls for a speed sensorless control technique that offers sufficiently high performance. In this report the estimation of speed with state observer type is discussed and also the limitations of it in low speed is discussed, and the methods to estimate the low speed and zero speed is discussed also the artificial neural network (ANN) based controller is used to enhance the performance of EV motor drives against parameter variations due to temperature change.en_US
