| Abstract: | Performance of utility interfaced solar-Photo Voltaic (PV) fed vector-controlled induction motor drive for pumping applications is to be investigated upon. Utility mains are also interfaced with the DC link through a Voltage Source Converter (VSC) to ensure surplus/deficit power to be exchanged with the utility mains in the form of active power. The induction motor to be used for the drive realisation is to be operated in vector control mode. A suitable Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm is to be used for the control of the intermediate Boost converter so that maximum power from Solar PV is extracted. VSC control is to be designed such that active power is injected/drawn from utility mains in surplus/deficit power mode of PV. This arrangement makes the water pumping system operate at its full capacity for 24 hours irrespective of weather conditions. The proposed system is designed and simulated in the MATLAB/Simulink platform. Simulated results show the satisfactory performance of the proposed system. |
