Distribution transformers are the key blocks in electricity distribution all across the country. Protection of distribution transformers is essential for protecting against faults, extending their lifespan, deferring the cost of replacing damaged ones, and ensuring supply continuity to meet rising demand. Study shows each year, thousands of distribution transformers face failures due to various mechanical, electrical reasons which interrupts the power supply of households and results in monetary loss as well. Therefore it is essentially to continuously monitor the health of distribution transformers and provide the information securely to the authorized personnel. Only measuring and monitoring the crucial parameters beyond the pre-set standards are not sufficient enough to evaluate the exact health of distribution transformer. Health index of a transformer is the correct measure which indicates the health and suggests the recommended action. Hence health index with critical parameters has to be determined. This work shows an approach to determine the heath index on the basis of crucial parameters as per their dominance in failure history of distribution transformers over years. This work also shows an approach to develop IoT based solution that can be used to access the condition monitoring of distribution transformer from any place.en_US
