| Abstract: | The augment of population of most of the Indian urban cities at a rapid pace along with economic factors is compelling the builders to construct structures even at the susceptible sites like on the sediment-filled landmass. The gradually increase in population of most of the Indian cities mainly owing to migration, high birth rate and economical factors is pressurizing the builders to construct structures even at the vulnerable sites like near the river beds, sedimentfilled lakes and ponds, etc. Urban and industrial areas require a particular concentration in seismic analysis due to the concentrations of population, real estates, strategic public services and human activities having a large socio economic impact. Also, since earthquake is the most destructive force for any type of structure and needs special attention. With the passage of time, understanding of earthquake has improved significantly. The geometrical and mechanical features of alluvial deposits have a major ramification on seismic-wave propagation and amplification. At a local scale, the vibration of a surface structure can induce a seismic wave field in the surficial soil layers. The coincidence between the fundamental frequencies of the soil layers and Eigen frequencies of the surface structures is a key parameter for site city interaction. This report will concentrate on studying the various aspects like site-city interaction, soil structure interaction, and various mechanisms of soil structure interaction. |
