| Abstract: | In this study an existing buillding, New Biotech building of IIT Roorkee has been considered. This building was constructed in 2010. This building does not have any shear walls. The enhancement in the performance of the building against seismic forces with additional storeys has been evaluated, using retrofitting with RC jacketing and FRP wrapping. Seismic demand of every structural member is compared with their capacity to get Demand Capacity Ratios (DCRs). Value of DCR greater than one shows that demand is greater than capacity and that structural member has failed for the particular earthquake force, otherwise it is safe. The members found deficient to meet out the demand needs retrofitting to increase their strength or capacity. To improve the structural capacities, RC jacketing is done on the columns and FRP based shear strengthening was done on beams. |
