The main focus point of this study is on the nonlinear finite element modelling of one way composite steel deck slab which has mainly profiled steel deck and concrete as constituent elements. Due to rising demand of high rise buildings and decreasing construction time allotted to contractors, it has become almost unavoidable to look for lighter alternative of conventional RCC and also construction systems which takes less time. Profiled steel deck composite slab is offer very fast constructability along with reduced weight due to which it is used widely in recent times especially for industrial and institutional building. Design codes does not have very good recommendations on these types of slab system yet, hence for design purpose full scale testing is needed which is very time consuming and costly affair hence numerical modelling can be a better alternative to design such slab system. In this study, numerical analysis using ABAQUS/CAE is carried out on slab specimen for which lab testing was already done by Hossain et.al. (2014) and results are compared for accuracy of FEA model. Design parameters are calculated and verified with actual values and results are discussed.en_US
