dc.description.abstractWaterproofing of structure is an essential yet neglected aspect of building construction. Once water enters the core of concrete, it decreases the structure's service life by hampering the durability aspect of the structure. Waterproofing must be done in the wet areas of the building. There are various waterproofing methods and their respective standard for proper use. However, only a few articles link waterproofing with the structure's durability and service life aspect. This research links the concept of waterproofing with the structure's service life. It deals with corrosion occurring in the structure due to chloride ingress and its effect on the service life of the slab. It also compares the structure's service life with different waterproofing methods. Cylinders with various waterproofing are exposed to exposure liquid, and chloride concentration at each depth of the cylinder is calculated. The data obtained are used as input conditions on Life 365 software which calculates the service life of the slab. From the experiment liquid waterproofing is seen to be most effective form of waterproofing in a slab. It is acting as a sealant to stop the ingress of water. Similarly, membrane and integral waterproofing are also extending the service life of the structure in a considerable amount.en_US
