Abstract: Planning for walkable cities: A case of Puducherry II. Problem statement Most cities in the country are experiencing rapid Urbanisation and Population inflows. Dependence on transportation through public transportation systems and privately owned vehicles is unavoidable. Walkability is ignored or not prioritised resulting in inconsistent transportation networks and over dependence on motorised transportation which results in more pollution, congestion and wastage of time and money.
