| Abstract: | As cities and regions worldwide become more integrated into globalization and urbanization processes, they exhibit more diverse and complex traits due to their local and regional relationships. It is true for many Indian cities that are reorganizing themselves as part of the urbanization process, but with their distinct regional-cultural features or divisions. Under the guise of urban development, Indian cities and neighborhoods have seen significant changes in recent years. The constant absorption of surrounding towns and agricultural fields occurs as a city and its built-up regions proliferate. As a result, these nearby communities, dubbed peripheral areas, undergo structural and functional changes over time. In the evolution of urban areas, it is critical to comprehend the connections between cities and their peripheries. It is not enough to understand urbanization in terms of its expansion or planning; it is also necessary to learn from the experiences of these outlying areas to recognize the ongoing rural-urban transition. (Jayesh Shah, 2021) Many positive developments have resulted from this urban-rural shift and recurrent calamities. While floods, earthquakes, cyclones, and tsunamis are all considered natural disasters, their impact on human society causes individuals to band together to shape their surroundings. Human systems' ability to deal with such catastrophes is determined by several elements, including the type of public institutions, ideological stances, the quality of human resources, and the technology accessible within specific social systems at any given time. Furthermore, the geomorphological qualities of areas affected by such disasters contribute to differences in people's coping abilities. |
