Wireless communications have been growing with an astonishing rate over the past few years and wireless terminals for future applications are required to provide diverse services. More interest in wireless technology has increased after releasing the press notice for free use of Ultra Wideband from 3.1 GHZ to 10.6 GHz. The fundamental component of the wireless network is Antenna. On the other hand for safety of human being low power multifunction antennas are required. This increases the demand of some new kind of Antenna. Since the release by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of a bandwidth of 750 MHz (from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz) for Ultra Wideband(UWB) wireless communications, the demand of high frequency and large bandwidth antenna has increased. From the last two decade, two kinds of antenna are mainly in trends for wireless technology. They are microstrip antenna and Dielectric Resonator Antenna(DRA). Both are highly efficient for modern wireless technology. In this thesis, the focus is to design a compact Ultra Wideband dielectric resonator antenna. A complete study of Ultra Wideband dielectric resonator antenna is done, which include the simulation, fabrication and measurement of antenna. To overcome the problem of interference from the - local communication, notch is created in UWB band. To understand the functioning of the notch due to slot, the electrical equivalent analysis is done in ADS software. For the simulation of the antenna, CST MICROWAVE STUDIO software has been used. The simulated results are shown with their conclusion and future scope.en_US
